Day 11 Post - Finish the story

The Time Machine ends with a mystery. Write a speculative essay about what you believe happened to the Time Traveler. Use what he said his goals were and what the narrator said about his character to base your answer.

  1. This is Blaireq using Loinall's computer.

I believe that the Time Traveler(Alexander/George) just stayed with Weena/Mara in their world place thing. I think that he also stayed their with her until they both were very old. I also think that Filby would live out the rest of his life wondering what happened to the Time Traveler while having fun with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maybe Weena/Mara and George/Alexander would have some children/grandchildren and spoil them a lot. I think that also the maid, Mrs. Watchtett, would go on and live put her life in peace and tranquility with a few mishaps along the way.

    1. In the end of the time machine the time traveler dissapears mysteriously. I believe he decided to travel back into the future because that's is what he wanted to do. He would get home tell his friends the story and begin to prepare for his travels. He dissapeared soon but he found time to pack because he could've easily gone back in time to where there was no one in his house and pack then leave from there.

If he traveled into the future I think he would travel into our time. He would travel to this time because it would give him all of the technological advancements he seeked as well as no threats of apocolypse. He would probably get acclimated to the new society and then begin to settle down and find a life and a job.

Another alternative ending is that he becomes a time pirate and travels to different times to gather riches. If he were to become a time pirate his name would be master of time. He would travel through time, rob everything and then get out of that time period.

  2. After the events of the book, I believe that the Time Traveler took back several materials from his time, such as books, matches, and writing utensils for the Eloi to use to teach them how to read and write. Once he got back to the time of the Eloi, he would teach them how to fight and lead a worldwide revolution against the Morlocks. After the Morlocks are defeated, he taught them more skills, such as reading, writing, making a fire, and hunting. I imagine him taking a group of Eloi to the the time period of the giant crabs. They could hunt them and then bring them back to the Eloi's time and cook them, which would provide food for a large group of people. He'd spend the rest of his life as the elected leader of the Eloi's with Weena by his side as his Heir. She would grow to be strong and intelligent through his tutelage, and when the Time Traveler dies, she would be in charge, and be a benevolent leader. Eventually the Eloi would become an intelligent, advanced species.

  3. He would have tried going to the past. He would start by going to 1814 and seeing his grandparents and killing them before his parents were born and it would create a time loop that kept going until another time traveler from another universe came and killed the time traveler before he killed his grandparents and then, he went into his giant Multiverse zoo and fed him to the Morlocks.

  4. The novel, The Time Machine finishes with the Time Traveler going back to his machine and traveling to any time he wishes. Even though the novel ends with a cliff hanger, I think that the Time Traveler went back to the future where he continues to live with Weena and her friends. He may help them survive in their world by introducing them to the knowledge of the past form his experiences. Life in this time in the future is almost at peace. Even though the death of Weena has affected the traveler, he still is fascinated with the people in this time and wants to continue to share the knowledge of his time to the people of the future.
The Warlocks still exist, although are not threatening the Elois at the moment due to the fire the traveler had created while Weena was still alive. The reason why he left his time was because of his need of belongingness. He felt different than other people and wanted to live in a world where his knowledge would impact lives rather than separating him from other people. The Elois did not care wether or not he stayed or left, but he felt welcome otherwise. He spent the rest of his days in the future guiding and teaching the Elois all that he knows and learning himself, this new world in which he discovered though time.

  5. I will be concluding the story of the 1960 time machine because I was unable to finish the other two stories.

I think that the time traveler went back to help the civilization of the Eloi after he destroyed the Morlocks also he went back to see Weena. I believe the books he took with him were of great importance for basic knowledge and civilization.

I Think he wanted to correct civilization so he could've also went back and stopped the people from destroying their own world ending up in making an alternate reality. But from the first movie I believe that he would most likely go back to Weena and try to correct what he thought was wrong.

  6. I think the time traveler stayed in the future so he could help the Eloi invent new things and to stay with Kalen and Mara. In seeing the future of a lava wasteland, George might want to tell them what's going to happen so he tries to get the Eloi to move. George probably might build a new time machine because he could bring resources and other things before anyone knew he was gone. Or he could go far into the future to see how the lava wasteland came to be or just completely go to the last day on earth then come back to his time, tell everyone about it, go back to Kalen and Mara and tell them how it was. so I would make the ending that George would make a new time machine and go back in time to 1899 to tell of his sights and people he met then went far into the future. Going to a possible far future for the Eloi. After that he comes back to 802,701 he continues with his life but if disaster strikes, he can go back and leave a note so they know.

  7. I think that he left again to go back to the future and help the Eloi survive. In the novel he did not actually achieve much or improve the future. I feel that with the new knowledge of how the future is and would turn out, he would go back and actually have a plan for helping the Eloi.
He would hopefully have gathered materials, such as more matches, books, and weapons. If he didn't have enough time to gather before he ran away, he does have a time machine. I think that he would try and teach them to be somewhat resourceful and able to fight. In the novel the Morlocks seemed pretty weak, the Eloi just were weak too and didn't know what to do. The easiest strategy may be to simply section off an area and hold out since simply staying alive cuts off their food supply. This could lead to some fun exploration of the future world. I don't know if this is what the Time Traveler would do though, since it is genocide.
His main goal would probably be to try and re balance society, but I don't believe the Morlocks would be very willing. Likely teaching them to be more safe and developed, and also teach them how to start their own fires and help defend themselves. Maybe even bring a lamp of some sort to easily light areas.
I don't know if he would necessarily bring a gun considering he doesn't seem like the one to actively want to kill the Morlocks, but it would be a great precaution. He did say that they were so inhuman you could barely feel anything for them, but he still doesn't seem ready to become George, slayer of Morlocks.

  8. After the time traveler left once again for the future, Watchett and Filby conversed about his possible destinations. They settled upon the explanation of the time traveler going back to the future to live with the Eloi. They soon would have realized their prediction was true. Unbeknownst to the narator of the book, the time traveler had actually come back to past to refill his supplies. Filby was boarding up house when he heard strange noises from the workshop. At once he realized there could have only been one solution. He jumped in the air and clicked his heals as he ran towards the laboratory to meet who was presumed to be dead. Filby starteled the time traveler but he seemed unfazed as he placed a large dented tank of helium on the time machine. "Hello!" Filby cheerfully said, "how are you?"
The time traveler responded in some weird futuristic tounge. Filby assumed he must have forgotten his own language. He noticed a quite but distinct hissing noise but dismissed the thought as the time traveler signaled for him to get closer. the time traveler reached into his pocket and had removed some sort of small contraption. It was rectangular and had a carving of fire on the lightweight metal. "What is that?" Filby asked in a voice higher than usual. Filby had connected the hissing noise to the high voice and had realized what was going to happen if the time traveler lit a fire inside the small enclosed space of his laboratory. unfortunately Filby was too late to warn him. The lighter ignited the helium air and caused the canister to explode, shooting shrapnel everywhere and collapsing the house down upon itself. An oil refinery was being built on the land next to the house and was soon engulfed in flames. The refinery exploded and produced a shockwave that traveled for miles. This knocked over the cooling tower for the world's largest nuclear reactor causing a total meltdown. Unfortunately the power plant was build next to the Atlantic Ocean in order to use the sea water. the ocean water flooded through the melted metal and was exposed to deadly amounts of radiation. Due to convection, gallons of water became irradiated ever second and began to flow back into the ocean and flow throughout the world. The Earth unexpectedly cracked like an egg and some sort of humanoid reptile species came out. They conquered the world and sent out to eradicate the human species. All because someone lit a fire in a place they where not supposed to.

  9. Once a year, I take it upon myself to visit the old residence of the Time Traveller. Soon though, that became once every five years, and at this time, Ms. Watchett had moved out and retired. She would, however, join me on my visits. I'm not entirely sure why I do this, I haven't decided. It may be to pay my respects to him, or it may be because I still have this hope that he'll come back, and he'll be there tinkering with some trivial mechanism, acting like nothing has happened. But of course, he never does.
Ms. Watchett and I stepped into his laboratory as we usually did at the end of our visit. Each time we look, Ms. Watchett brings a feather duster, and I bring more flowers to press into the small journal I'd left on his desk. Inside was the flower that he had been given by "Weena", as he'd called her, pressed between the pages. I add to the collection of flowers each time I see the journal again. None of them are as unique as the flower from the future of course, as I don't have any way to gather them, but I do my best to find what suitable flora I can.
This visit, however, I noticed something different. The journal was now on a different table entirely. Not only this, but in the space where his time machine had rested was a stack of papers, written and scribbled on. I walked over to them and crouched to examine them. On each paper, in blue ink that contrasted the black ink that everything else was written in, a number was written. I counted, and came up with a total of 72 pages. Each one had a corresponding number in the bottom, to keep them in order. They looked as though they had been added in later, as an afterthought. While Ms. Watchett continued to dust the area, I sat down and thumbed through the pages. After the first few, I began seeing a repeated drawing of something that looked familiar. It took a few minutes of careful deliberation, but I eventually recognized it as his time machine. Or rather, the early concepts for his time machine. The further I read, the more I realized that these were, in fact, the notes he had kept on building his time machine. I have gone to this room many times, I know every inch of it, and I had never seen these here before. I felt along the edges, and as Ms. Watchett asked if I was ready to leave, I made a spur of the moment decision. In one swift movement, I tucked the notes into my coat pocket, and stood, dusting myself off and nodding at Ms. Watchett.
On the back of the last page, in blue ink at the bottom right corner, was written:

    "802,701"

It seems that our Time traveller has gotten lonely. I have his notes, and the locations for materials. Who am I to deprive him of proper company?
